I fell in love with these lace blouses immediately when I first saw them at our ‘In the Pink’ shoot. The blouse from Elizabeth Martin tweed has just the right elements femininity and chic. This could be worn in so many ways and styled so differently each time. It has just the perfect balance for both smart and smart/casual attire. It is a great blouse to wear with skirts, trousers and jeans and this versatile piece is designed, made and manufactured entirely in Scotland.
This beautiful lace isn’t just a pretty lace. It is made from scratch at MYB textiles in Scotland from the only producer in the world manufacturing patterned lace with original Nottingham lace looms. This manufacturing is very labour intensive and is definitely a niche market. The looms here are over 90 years old and the team at MYB Textiles – who I have had the great pleasure of meeting are all so lovely, welcoming and passionate about their product, which is always wonderful to see.
Of course it wouldn’t be an Elizabeth Martin design without tweed. The baby blue collar and cuff takes this from just a pretty blouse, to sophisticated and stylish timeless piece, that would look good in anyones wardrobe. To wear this for spring summer 2016, I would recommend styling with some light cream cigarette trousers and loafer style shoes to give off an effortless elegance. This could be worn with just a bra underneath, or you could team it with a strappy top if you aren’t feeling confident enough to see your bra.
Elizabeth Martin Tweed ‘Isabelle’ lace blouse is £169. It is also available in black with a pink collar and cuff & black with a yellow collar and cuff. For all of those who are fans of darker clothing.
