“Beauty is not in the face, beauty is a light in the heart”
Lets talk highlighters! First of all, highlighting and strobing are the same thing. Don’t let the beauty industry confuse you, strobing is a term used by big beauty brands to re promote the concept of highlighting, both get the same result. Stobing or highlighting, whatever you want to call it has just gone crazy recently with most high end and drugstore brands bringing out their own version.
There are also many different extremes of highlighting. On one hand there’s the summer beach radiance ‘I woke up like this’ glow and on the other ‘I’ve just buffed my entire face with a floor polisher’ kind of splendor.
I love makeup so I kind of like both. I love the transformative powers makeup can have so hey if you can rock it go for it!
Here are my current favorite’s.
Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector
This is the holy grail of highlighters. It’s reflective, dewy and radiant all in one and doesn’t leave any build up on the skin. I will buy this product again and again I love it so much. I’d recommend this to anyone who prefers more of an effortless glow. You can wear it under foundation, mixed in or just sparingly on the usual high points of the face.
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder
This gives a beautiful luminescence to the skin. Much more of a soft focus effect it delivers a gorgeous diffused appearance.
Tom ford Skin Illuminating Powder in Moodlight
Tom Ford is just one of those brands that you have to try at least once. The products are elegant and sexy. Everything from the packaging to what’s inside screams luxury. The soft white shade is described as being like ‘daylight’ while the golden shade is like ‘the romantic illusion of candlelight’. Need I say more?
Somewhere in the middle
Mac Soft and Gentle Mineralize Skin Finish
This is a kit staple. A great product for fair skin tones this gem is not far within reaching distance.
Benefit Watt’s Up
I love the packaging that Benefit come out with and this is a perfect example. The highlighter itself is really lovely in a gorgeous champagne tone. I find it works best if you just swipe it straight on the cheekbones and blend out with your fingers, definitely a handbag or holiday essential.
Sleek Precious Metals Highlighting Palette
Sometimes it’s really hard to find a drugstore product that blends as well as higher end items. This little wondrous beauty is the exception. Sleek is known for having extremely pigmented products so it didn’t surprise me that this was no exception. The cooler tones give the skin a really pretty radiant polish.
Soap and Glory Love at first Blush
The perfect all in one blush and highlight. Described as being ‘chic for the shabby cheek’ this blusher has a lovely rosy glow and blends seamlessly onto the skin. I definitely plan on trying more of this makeup range.
