Clare and I finally filmed an August favourites for you all. It’s been a while since we have sat down together so it was nice to find out what we’ve both been loving this month.
So the final month of summer has said goodbye for another year *sad face*. Liberty’s Christmas shop is now open for business *shocked face* and Autumn has officially begun. I feel it is still a bit premature to crack out the Christmas PJ’s and whip up a batch of mulled wine but non the less I’m ready to pack away my sandals. After all we are in Scotland, summer doesn’t linger for long.
Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation
This product has been a staple for me this summer and has been perfect for my super dry skin. I really love the wake me up concealer and am so glad I finally tried the foundation. My skin definitely feels energised and allows me to build up to a medium coverage.
Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder
This is a great handbag essential. It does exactly what it states on the tin, matifies the skin without moving or clogging, need I say more.
Benefit Watts Up Highlighter
A gorgeous creamy champagne highlighter and my current summer essential. I have been using this religiously for the last few months and plan on continuing.
Rimmel Extreme Black Volume Mascara
Having short sparse lashes I am forever on the hunt for a good mascara. I plan on buying this in bulk next time i’m in Boots. My lashes are full and thick after a few coats, just what a girl wants.
Laura Mercier Individual eye shadow in Ballet Pink
A really pretty champagne pink eyeshadow that can be used wet or dry. I’ve also noticed some people using this as a highlighter.
Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge
A fantastic dupe to the beauty blender and half the price. You can but this in packs of two now which is fantastic as I normally need to stock up for my kit.
Marks and Spencer Candle in Coastal Walk
I have tried at least 5 of these recently and adored every one. Not expensive at £6 and with an array of beautiful scents.
Harry Potter The Cursed Child
Harry Potter was a huge part of my childhood so was really excited to read this book. Although written in a play format it is equally as enjoyable as all the classics. If you are a Potter fan I would thoroughly recommend reading this.
Bobby Brown University Lip Palette
I am a big fan of make up but something I have always been lazy with is lipsticks. I end up not reapplying and just popping on some lip balm. This lip palette has been great for me, because I bought lots of shades in one go & it each time I apply a lip colour it lasts for ages! My favourite shade is ‘brown’ it is like my lips but better when I put this on.
Bobby Brown Long wear cream eyeshadow
Ok clearly I went a bit Bobby Brown daft this month. I loved this eyeshadow in ‘Slate’ it is lovely neutral shade that you can wear alone or use as a base and I can tell already I need some more of these shadows in different shades because I love how blend-able & easy to apply this is!
Bobby Brown Vitamin Enriched face base
This base seems to be really popular with bloggers at the moment. I can’t get over how much I love the smell of this & when I apply it it seems so luxurious. So far I really like it, but I will do an update once I have been using it long enough to tell if it makes a difference to my make up lasting. I have quite oily skin & a lot of the bloggers posting about this have had dry or combination skin so I will be keen to see how it works on mine!
Eve Lom Balm Cleanser
This is my holy grail product. Seriously I can’t recommend this cleanser enough. It is known by Vogue as ‘probably the best cleanser in the world’ and they aren’t lying. I love the hot cloth cleansers in general, but I have been using this cleanser for about two years now & nothing I try is even comparable. It is pricey (£85 200ml), but honestly it last such a long time that if you were using a mid priced cleanser you would easily be paying the same amount for the amount of times you need to repurchase. This will last you 6 months – 1 year depending on how much you use each time & how often you use it.
Sunday Riley Luna (night oil)
Ok so another expensive skincare product (£85). I am a bit of a skincare magpie I admit. Ever since clearing up my acne I am really passionate about taking care of my skin. Sunday Riley’s products are such a big deal all over youtube & literally seem to provoke the most passionate reactions either for or against these oils.
I think this is a positive thing, because everyones skin is different & reacts differently to different products. What works for me won’t necessarily work for someone else. This is a Retinol based product so initially it can cause skin to break out or peel. However your skin reacts it does need time to adjust and some people even say try wearing it every second night to begin with. My first month using it (along with Artemis Sunday Riley’s daytime oil) my skin looked so even, I had no spots (I am acne prone) I was so surprised that this did not break me out.
This month I have suddenly got some under the skin spots on my cheek area in the last few days & I honestly don’t know if it is related to this product, but I am going to keep using it & see how my skin changes over the next 6 months. A retinol does not work instantly & I am hoping to see my skin improve gradually.
Yet another super Apple product & thanks to the new Apple TV I can now talk to my TV via Siri. Siri is not all that helpful in your phone, but it certainly is on TV when you can search for movies, programs & it finds it all for you without having to use a remote to type one digit at a time. This feature alone makes this Apple TV worth it for me but there are lots of amazing features including having Apps the same as the iPad/iPhones, games & so much more! £129
Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette
I just used the colour tease from this palette for my eyebrows, but just find an eyeshadow colour or brow palette that matches your brows. This palette is fab though, I love all the neutral shades in this & still use it a lot!
