July Favourites’

Hey guys, so its now the end of July and I thought I would film a quick favourites video.  I still can't believe how much of a wash out it has been again this summer.  Although as I write this the sun has decided to make a brief appearance.  It rains in Scotland 12 months of the year so it's hard to get excited about summer.  However on a positive note I head on holiday soon YAY! So starts the steady flow of purchases and returns to ASOS. If my freckles join up I may even get a bit of colour. Watch this space. Watch my video to see what I have been loving this July and don't forget to follow us...

My evening style..

Recently I have been keen to have a more classic approach to my evening styling. Inspired by a combination of 40'/50's styles and shapes, but a modern twist on an older style. I have been loving all the dresses by Chi Chi London. The Chi Chi collection is always a combination of different styles and statement, yet classy style dresses. This often features a modern spin on the beautiful cinched waist and full skirt look. I love how this look makes me feel glamorous, confident and elegant. I honestly feel like a child again, trying on her mums clothes and shoes, I get excited to get to put on these style of dresses and it honestly feels like a novelty. I am wearing...

My go to casual style..

My casual style is often very much that. I enjoy comfort, so for a day running errands, my go to clothes would be mid rise skinny jeans, a tank top and a shirt, blouse, jacket or coat layered depending on the weather. Boots, pumps or trainers.   For this casual look photographed, I chose a pair of mid rise skinny 'Molly' jeans from river island. The ripped jeans look is somewhat over done now, but I still enjoy wearing them and they are a great wardrobe staple that you can rely on for a key part of your wardrobe. I wore a white ribbed tank top from Topshop, this top is part of their basics selection of tops. I have a selection of these...

Military styling in Spring..

Add some military style to your spring wardrobe.. Spring has sprung & with it we can start wearing lighter layers. We here at the beauty brief have been thinking about ways to make a spring statement & we think wearing some key military style is a great way to go if you were looking for some inspiration. Alice tried out the look here, and I must say with her red hair it looks super. All those green hue's compliment red hair, it is such a great colour for us red heads to wear. Often green can be a go to colour for us redheads, in an array of shades. My personal favourite is ivy green. Alice styled this look with a crew neck black...

In the desert…

This was a really fun day spent shooting desert fashion, styling and makeup'ing on a beautiful beach in Dunbar.  We couldn't have asked for better weather and were so lucky as it had been non stop rain in the run up to the shoot, the sun definitely had his hat on this day.  The shoot was for designer Elizabeth Martin Tweed aimed at showcasing her AW16 collection.  Here's what Elizabeth has to say about her brand- "As a woman, there is no better feeling than slipping on a simple but expertly cut garment that inspires immediate confidence.  This kind of timeless versatility in classic, neutral and tonal colours, is the staple of the Elizabeth Martin collection" Makeup was all about radiant skin...

In the Pink!

I fell in love with these lace blouses immediately when I first saw them at our 'In the Pink' shoot. The blouse from Elizabeth Martin tweed has just the right elements femininity and chic. This could be worn in so many ways and styled so differently each time. It has just the perfect balance for both smart and smart/casual attire. It is a great blouse to wear with skirts, trousers and jeans and this versatile piece is designed, made and manufactured entirely in Scotland.   This beautiful lace isn't just a pretty lace. It is made from scratch at MYB textiles in Scotland from the only producer in the world manufacturing patterned lace with original Nottingham lace looms. This manufacturing is very labour intensive and...
