July Favourites’

Hey guys, so its now the end of July and I thought I would film a quick favourites video.  I still can't believe how much of a wash out it has been again this summer.  Although as I write this the sun has decided to make a brief appearance.  It rains in Scotland 12 months of the year so it's hard to get excited about summer.  However on a positive note I head on holiday soon YAY! So starts the steady flow of purchases and returns to ASOS. If my freckles join up I may even get a bit of colour. Watch this space. Watch my video to see what I have been loving this July and don't forget to follow us...

Blueberry Muffins – Dairy free

Dairy free Blueberry Muffins was one of my baking goals over the last few months. I love blueberry muffins and I didn't want to live without them, so I made my own dairy free version. This is the first time I have filmed me baking something, but I have been baking lots that I haven't even photographed for the blog so I need to start documenting more often what I am up to! So you can get all the instructions in my video but I will give you a list of ingredients and instructions on here also. I use Ground golden flax seeds to make flax eggs, which I ordered from www.healthysupplies.co.uk. This is super easy to make each egg is 1 tablespoon...

Chocolate orange dairy free cheesecake…

This is a great recipe for anyone on a plant based, vegan or dairy free diet who fancies a sweet cheesecake treat. This is a little unhealthy because it does contain refined sugar, I couldn't resist sharing this though because it is super tasty. I have had silken tofu in the cupboard for ages & I honestly had no idea what to use it for. I had tried using it for something in the past and it turned out awful. So when I discovered I could make cheesecake with tofu, I thought rather hesitantly that I better give it a go, before giving up all hope on silken tofu. (I am happy to report back that this one was a raring success - phew!) So...

Red Velvet Cake – dairy free

I had been desperate to make some red velvet cake for ages & I was really excited to make a dairy free version to let everyone try it. I love this time of year when all the strawberries, blueberries and raspberries are in season and they taste super. So I thought this would be the perfect time to make it. The dairy free version is great for people on a plant based diet or those who are lactose intolerant and it is easy peasy to make...

Maple roasted Figs…

I like to try my hardest nowadays to avoid refined sugar and eat plenty of fruits and veggies. So when I am snacking, I like to experiment with simple fruit snacks that are easy but equally satisfying as my old sugary favourites which had no nutrition. This one is super easy and it is only two ingredients. Maple Syrup & figs. It is a bit too good to be true and too easy to prepare also, but if you like figs & you like maple syrup you will love this simple snack! Just preheat your oven to 200 degrees celsius (390 fahrenheit) While the oven is preheating make a shape out of tin foil with a high edge so the maple syrup doesn't...

My go to casual style..

My casual style is often very much that. I enjoy comfort, so for a day running errands, my go to clothes would be mid rise skinny jeans, a tank top and a shirt, blouse, jacket or coat layered depending on the weather. Boots, pumps or trainers.   For this casual look photographed, I chose a pair of mid rise skinny 'Molly' jeans from river island. The ripped jeans look is somewhat over done now, but I still enjoy wearing them and they are a great wardrobe staple that you can rely on for a key part of your wardrobe. I wore a white ribbed tank top from Topshop, this top is part of their basics selection of tops. I have a selection of these...

Why I went Vegan

‘Vegan’, for some reason this word sparks a bit of controversy, some people don't like the idea of someone giving up both meat & dairy. The word ‘vegan’ comes with a stereotype of an extremist vegetarian. I have noticed that the term ‘plant based diet’ is common, I don't know if this is the new ‘cool’ terminology for vegan now. It does seem to be a trendy & less offensive way to describe the fact you are vegan to other people. I was vegetarian for a while as a teenager, it didn't last very long, a year or two before I gave up and started eating meat again. My parents always joke, that I just decided one day that I wanted to...

Kinnaird Lodges Review

Ok so Alan and I got to go check out Kinnaird Lodges and spa uniq in Pitlochry, Scotland. Firstly, this was truly an amazing experience. If you are looking for a mini moon, a short break, a trip to Scotland or if you are looking for a spa experience the lodges at Kinnaird are all of the above. From when we arrived to when we left, we were treated like VIP's and not just very important, but I felt like we were an extension to the lovely little family run business. The couple who owns this glorious retreat are called Andy and Jane, They were so welcoming, we just loved our bubbly and chocolates on arrival, it was such a sweet and unique...
